Marnie uses this eco-friendly, safe and VERY effective detergent based on discussions with her mom and research on the Internet. We have a Splendide 2100 Washer/Dryer and this works great in it.
Laundry Detergent
6 bars Fels Naptha soap (grated)
3 cups Arm & Hammer Washing Powder
3 cups Borax
Mix together and store in whatever size container you'd like. It lasts a long time and costs less than $0.50 a load!
Use 2 tblsp per load. Can use 3 tblsp for heavy soiled loads. You won't even need fabric softener with this. Even though Splendides don't recommend the use of powders, don't worry. It all dissolves without a problem. You can also liquify this by mixing it with water prior to using. The soap will not get sudsy but doesn't need to. It cleans GREAT!
Good luck!
