| 2006 Wrangler X (His) The 1989 Jeep couldn't do Freeway speeds due to the 4 cylinder engine. Gosh, I pay alot of money for my mistakes. So I sold it and I found this one on the internet. It is used but only had 2,400 miles on it! I couldn't believe my luck. I think it was set up wrong (out of alignment) and so I got it at a significant discount. I learned my lesson and had my mechanic look at this one before I bought it. I called him and asked what he found with the front end. "Alignment, I fixed it already." I asked if maybe he should wait to fix it after I own it. ☺ On our first day of vacation in September 2007 the transfer case popped into 4L while towing. This destroyed the engine. It turns out that the lift kit was incorrectly and incompletely installed and the shifter was binding where neutral was not all the way out of gear and 4L was never all the way into gear. Unfortuanatly the kit was put on by the previous owner so I am stuck with the repair bill. Now I can't believe my luck! I have dumped more money into Jeeps than I would have paid for a freakin' Ferrari. I'd rather have a Jeep! ☺ In October 2007 I installed my HAM radio so if you are a Ham and think you see my Jeep I am on 146.52 Mhz or a local repeater. I later added a cheap CB and I usually monitor CH19 until I don't want to hear the garbage any longer. Right now I have a short commute so it isn't too bad. In the Winter it came in very handy for ice reports. The Jeep now looks like a porcupine and a friend of mine thinks that if I roll over it will stick in the ground. ☺ I ordered a roofrack for it in September 2008 because an ongoing puzzle for us is hauling our kayaks. We have a Yakima rack but we never installed it because Jeep doesn't recommend putting anything on the hardtop (Marnie's Jeep). So I broke down and ordered the Expedition Rack by Wilderness Accessories (#34098) from 4wd.com Shown is the new rack. It only took a minute to put my VHF antenna on so you can see it here the day I got the rack. I had my friend Mark help install our Rackima HullRaisers and I brought our kayaks home. They were stored at a friends house while we were in Camp Verde for last Winter. If you look very carefully you can see my HF antenna pulled down to a clip on the mirror. It is about 16 feet from the ground unclipped. My tuner is dead center between the kayaks. |
