Early in 2007 we decided that a motorhome (MH) might meet our needs better. The trailer was just too long to hook the jeep to it when we travel and didn't have enough storage space. We also decided we could go a little smaller on living space.

In February we went to the RV show and looked at motorhomes and decided to try and get one by September. In May Beaudry RV made us a deal on this one and we signed the papers.

2006 35FLBS Northshore by Thor/Dutchman

2006 - 2007

This picture was taken the day after we bought it at Medicine Bow, North and West of Denver, CO. We were on a trip to Denver in June 2006 for Marnie to take her Dosimetry Boards and while in Denver we traded in our travel trailer for this monster. From Denver we headed up to this campsite, right on a raging stream and no other campers. We then continued up to Yellowstone for a few days and then Jackson Hole for a couple days. This was a great trip and there are some of our favorite pictures on our Travel Page.

We really liked the front living room. It gives a real feeling of space. We needed more storage and a way to tow the jeep so we traded it in.

Here are a few pictures as we started "fulltiming" in this rig in September 2006.

This picture was also an Elk Hunt Camp in 2002. This is the RV step after the first two truck bed campers. It was a little rough but a great hunting rig. We traded this one in on the 5th wheel in 2006.

Marnie and I took a trip up the coast pulling this with my 1984 F250. We got to Utah and a real nice campground. I was looking up from bed and said, "Did you open the vent?" It was gone. "Good thing it is not raining..."

The next morning my neighbors woke to the sound of duct tape and rain. "That will happen when you forget to close 'em." That is NOT what happened.

We went through Bend and Coos Bay Oregon and we met some great RV people and fell in love with the RV lifestyle. We both love the outdoors anyway.

Just outside Tillamook we stayed at a jam-packed camp ground. There were pictures of huge fish all over but when I asked if there were fish in the river they said, "Naw, just some steelhead." Sounds like fun to me, we set up camp and were wading in the river in about fifteen minutes. We both noticed a couple of fins sticking out of an eddy so I had Marnie cast to them while I fished downstream. A few minutes later Marnie, as white as a ghost, comes walking up cradling her fly rod. "Did you hook one?" I asked. Nod. It turns out she hooked a Chinook Salmon that probably weighed almost as much as she did. Our equipment was set up for big trout, not Leviathan! Still, what fun!

1976 F250 & Cabover

?-1995?

And this is not it. This cabover belonged to my hunting partner Dave. Mine was 12' with a shower and everything. The wood frame had rotted and Dave helped me haul it to the dump.

(pay no attention to the skinny fella in the foreground, sadly he is more gray and much wider these days)

The one before that was a free truck bed pop-up. All I had to do is drive to Meadview and get it. The wife, kid and I, looking forward to a grand adventure, piled in the B-17 (nickname for the truck) and headed for lake mead.

1976 F250

We got as far as the first hill heading out of town and the engine started to sputter. I looked it over and decided to head back home.

My diagnosis was fuel filter or fuel pump. We still had time to get to the lake so I ran to the parts store and a few hours later the old truck had a new fuel supply system.

Everyone piles back into the truck, with a little less enthusiasm, and we are off!

We got as far as the first hill heading out of town and the engine started to sputter. I looked it over and decided to head back home.

As I am climbing out of the cab I notice the fuel tank valve (that I had forgotten I had) looked different...

We made it to the lake, picked up the pop-up and took it home. It had one tarantula occupant which was evicted and I had the local metal company make a roof for it. They wound up doing this for free and to this day I am not sure why.

The bed was a tight fit for two hunters, but as I recall, Dave and I used this on my first deer hunt. Sorry there isn't any pictures as this was something to behold!
