Antique Tractors & Engines

Back by popular demand! Okay, my dad asked me where it went. When Marnie and I took up the Fulltime RV lifestyle we had to sell almost everything and pick only a few hobbies to keep. Alas, antique tractor collecting and living in an RV are mutually exclusive. I sold all my engines and tractors in 2006.

Because of this, the page is dormant and I will not be updating it or the links.

1934 International Farmall 12

Serial Number FS12554

This shot was taken where I bought her. In her new home. Lots of scraping and sandblasting. Transmission is blasted and painted.
Wheels

I started restoring this one in 2001. I ran into trouble finding steel wheels for it and the crank is way undersized. I have a spare block and crank from FS13986 that is pretty rusty but alot closer to spec.

This is my parts tractor International Farmall 12.

Serial number FS13986

The block from FS13986 Donating needed parts.

This one was free with FS12554. For a couple years it sat by the firepit where we unloaded it and so became affectionately known as "the firepit tractor." Marnie has forbidden me to work on it. Here is the rule as laid down:

"All tractors on the premises will be restored. In addition you may have one tractor you are working on and one waiting to be worked on."

Here in Arizona there really is no such thing as a parts tractor. "If you put some gas in and give her a push I'll bet she'd start."

This is my 1936 International Farmall 12.

Serial number FS71925

These shots were taken when we went to pick her up. Getting her home.
Finished, Minnie-Mo looks a little Jealous!

There was some controversy over the correct serial number. While the tractor carried serial tag FS34287 (1935), one of the 'spare' parts was the serial tag for FS71925 (1936). A bit of detective work, including paint analysis, has determined that the later tag is the correct one. It may not matter to anyone but me, however, if I am going to preserve a bit of history - I want to do it right!

This one was featured in Red Power Magazine Mar-Apr 2002 issue! I am so proud!

Mineapolis Moline UBE

This is my first tractor. It is a 1953 Minneapolis Moline Model UBE.

Serial Number 05900060

1953 is the first year the UB was made and the serial number starts with 05900001 so that makes this one the sixtieth UB ever made!

The day I got her! ...painted...decals...
Done! The UB and her proud new owner.

The owner had accidentally broken the fuel bowl and he thought that maybe he had fried the starter or solenoid. A new fuel bowl from Napa and reversing the leads for POSITIVE GROUND was all she needed. She started right up!
I re-built the heads and gave her a paint job. I can't claim that this UBE is restored, but, preserved. I have the complete history on this tractor back to the dealer.

I loved the UB but, alas, this is way too much tractor for my acre. Tim had said that if I ever think about selling the Minnie to give him the first shot at it. He wanted to pull with her.

1960 Oliver 550

This is going to be my working tractor. It is a 1960 Oliver 550.

Serial Number 92 992-519

Where she sat. Needs Work. Got her running! Just need to paint the fenders and rims...

Looking pretty good. Caleb driving by himself.

This tractor is by no means an antique. One of the clubs I belong to has a cut-off of 1959 (you know who you are!) But, shouldn't that increase every year? This tractor is over forty years old. A classic perhaps. Anyway, Oliver came out with the 55, Super 55 and ultimately this 550 to address the popularity of the utility tractor - specifically to compete with the Ford N series.

I got this one running two days after I brought it home. This 550 has power steering, live hydraulics and live PTO. I really like the power steering! Her job is be plowing/disking the garden, mowing, plowing snow, lifting heavy objects and the occasional jaunt to a friends house for a visit.

A lot of people ask me how I got started with tractors. Here is my sister and I on my uncle's tractor when I was, maybe, two years old.
